Techno is for Lovers – Jen Barnes, J.Hjort

Here is a little something from Jen:

“I have been in love with electronic music since the early 80s, box-tutting to Kraftwerk and New Wave music while visiting family in Germany. That led me into the 90’s raving to trance-based music in front of subwoofer stacks, and later on to groovin’ out inside the deepest House clubs on the planet.

Usually the story goes that I became a popular House DJ and went on to do cool things, play in cool places, and win cool awards. That is all true. But this particular story sidetracks into that time I met J.Hjort at Mercury. He was in a band at the time called Slowing Room and I was just starting my first residency. We got to talking and discovered we both have a love of good clean, crisp, danceable techno. Both of us had spent time in Europe and just understood what good Techno was. We shared many fun nights drinking cosmos and mixing das Tekno around Portland.

I can’t quite remember the last time I played a Techno set out, might be over a decade. But don’t worry, we’re not going to rave ’til dawn. It’s going to be fresh, groovy, and delicious. The kind grown-ups will like.”
